Forces and Motion

Forces make things start moving, stop moving or change direction. This unit covers speed, acceleration and the link between force, mass and acceleration.

Slide 1 / 4

Describing motion

  • Speed is how far something travels in a set time, worked out as distance divided by time.
  • Velocity is speed in a stated direction.
  • Acceleration is how quickly velocity changes over time.
  • Speed is measured in metres per second (m/s).
